Welcome to BH6

We are delighted that you are considering joining our Sixth Form. BH6 offers a wide range of academic and vocational courses designed to support your ambitions and prepare you for university, apprenticeships, or employment.

During the first phase of applications, we will give students free choice on their course combinations. Once this is completed by the 2nd October, we will look at the most popular courses and course combinations before launching Phase 2 applications which will begin on 2nd November.

Phase 2 will be a 1-2-1 course conversation with each applicant, where final decisions will be made. It is important that students consider the entry requirements before selecting their choices to ensure that they are in line with their expected outcomes in the summer of 2027.

Key Notes for Parents/Carers and Students

· Students must select a minimum of 3 A-Level equivalent courses. (these are shown with a (1) on the application form.

· Most students will take 3 subjects, but those who choose both BTEC Business, BTEC Health and Social and BTEC Sport (each worth 2 A-Level equivalents) will be able to study the equivalent of 4 A-Levels.

· Students can combine A-Levels, V Levels, BTECs and AAQs, as long as they are not within the same subject area.

· Each course has specific entry requirements outlined in the Course Guide.

Future Ready Pathway

If you have not secured a grade 3 in English or Maths, you can enrol onto a 3 year course which will help you to transition onto a Level 3 qualification. In year one, you will complete a BTEC in Workskills, which is a practical qualification designed to help you develop the essential skills needed for employment, further education or apprenticeships. The course focuses on building confidence, communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities, alongside developing key workplace skills such as time management, organisation and professionalism. Following a successful year and achievement of a Grade 3 in English and Maths, you will be guaranteed a place on a Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Sport, ICT, Business or Health and Social Care.
